Most DIYers don’t spend much time working with metals and plastics.
However, you will almost always have to cut pieces of copper, aluminum or melamine. You won’t want to use your woodworking knife when you have to do this. These materials can wear down teeth quicker than a jackrabbit skating on ice skates.
A TCG (triple-chip grind) blade is what you need in these non-wood situations. These blades can be used to easily cut through dense composites, plastic laminates, particle boards, and other non-ferrous metals.
You will need either a ferrous or abrasive blade to cut iron and steel.

The Nitty Gritty
Now that we have hand-picked the best table saw blades to cut a variety materials and cuts, let’s talk about how these blades were better designed for their particular purposes.
Flat top grind (FTG), blades are best for rip cuts. The rip blade’s low tooth count (22 to 24 teeth) allows it to cut through material quickly. This is especially important when you are feeding long pieces of plywood or lumber into the saw.
For ripping, you can use 40, 50 or 60-tooth alternate topbevel (ATB), or combination (ATBR), blades. If you use a high-quality blade, however, your cutting speed will be slower (especially with hardwoods). You may also be more prone to binding.
Cross-cuts and miters are not easy. To combat this, you will need to use either a high tooth count blade (50+) or a combination blade (ATBR).
ATB blades can be used to shear large quantities of wood and produce precise cuts. However, they must be fed slowly into the saw. This is why they are not practical for long rips.
The thin veneers of plywood and MDF, which are made from particle board and MDF, are particularly susceptible to tearing out. They also wear quickly on ATB teeth that are sharp.
It is a matter of personal preference when cutting things like this.
A 50-tooth ATB or higher is the best choice if you require a clear cut on particle board or plywood. If you don’t need a clean cut on plywood or particle board, a TCG blade can be used.

The overall quality of the blade is crucial. A blade with a higher number of teeth will cut more efficiently and cause less tear-out in plywood and lumber. A high-quality 40-tooth ATB blade is more effective than an 80-tooth blade.
You can’t see how you are going to be able to saw joints without a good quality blade. If you want decent results, you will need to spend more on something like the Woodworker II.
