Mountain Bike Heaven. Colorado: Where To Ride In Gunnison Or Crested Butte
Crested Butte is the home of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. It was here that locals began retrofitting old Schwinn paperboy bicycles with multiple gears in the 1970s. Some of the most exciting chapters in mountain biking’s history are still being written today in the Gunnison Valley. There are both classic and modern events, as well as backcountry trails that will take you on a journey straight from the imaginations of road and mountain bikers.

Crested Butte was voted the best riding destination in North America. Deadmans Gulch won the Best Tight N Twisty singletrack and Deadmans Ridge was awarded the Best Climb nod. The infamous 401 Trail also received an honorable mention as Trail of the Year.
